The Grammys


A Grammy Award (originally called Gramophone Award), or Grammy, is an honour awarded by The Recording Academy to recognize outstanding achievement and honour excellence in the recording arts and sciencesin the mainly English-language music industry. The first Grammy Awards ceremony was held on May 4, 1959, to honour and respect the musical accomplishments by performers for the year 1958.

Sandeep Das has joined the league of a few ‘extraordinary’ Indians
after winning the prestigious Grammy Awards. The famous tabla player won Best World Music Album with Yo-Yo Ma at the 59th Grammy Awards. Ma’s project titled The Music of Strangers: Yo-Yo Ma and The Silk Road Ensemble is a fusion of Indian classical and world music. ‘Sing Me Home’ features tunes composed or arranged bydifferent global artists as it examines the ever-changing idea of home.

 White Sun music group is attracting a huge fanbase from Punjab.
 Their album has compositions from Guru Granth Sahib which is appealing to the Punjabi listeners.
 White Sun’s album White Sun II won the Best New Age Album
at the Grammys.
 White Sun’s lead singer and songwriter Gurujas accepted the trophy, saying: “We just want our music to make something better for somebody somewhere. And it’s our dream to see this world become a more beautiful place. For anyone who shares in that dream with us, thank you, we love you and let’s do better.”
